The Backstory of the NEW Krikawa Jewelry Art Gallery

When I was in art school, I fantasized about one day owning a gallery that also showed other artwork. Apparently, other jewelers had a similar idea, and for years Tucson enjoyed two jewelry art galleries. (One of them even showed some of my work when I was in college!) Meanwhile, I went on to open Krikawa Jewelry Designs, on North Campbell Avenue. Why on earth would I be writing a story (okay, a rant) about angry jewelry store owners? I certainly am not one.
Now, I love jewelry. I love my staff, and I love my customers. I actually really enjoy what we do here at Krikawa. One of the most rewarding things I do is help our clients discover the perfect ring design that celebrates and represents the single most important relationship in their life. Though the much-anticipated wedding of Brad Pitt and Angeline Jolie had some nontraditional elements, like their children drawing pictures on her veil, other parts were nothing short of classic. My favorite? Brad’s ring, a yellow gold, 4 millimeter, half-round shape that’s the epitome of a vintage men’s band and a style your grandfather probably wore on his own wedding day. see the full article
Of all the amazing features of a diamond, I think one of the coolest is its ability to glow under a UV light. The phenomenon, called fluorescence, doesn’t occur in all diamonds, but it’s fairly common. About a quarter of all the diamonds submitted to the Gemological Institute of America over the past decade show some degree of it. see the full article
