2021 Fall and Winter Fashion Colors in Gemstones
LISA
This year, the runways of New York Fashion Week brought a bright palette with an array of stunning hues. Pantone put together a Fashion Color Trend Report, which highlighted the eye-popping colors that were on display this year. Everything from ‘Mykonos Blue’ which Pantone describes as a “brisk blue evocative of the Aegean sea” to a pop filled `Fuschia Fedora,’' a “flirtatious, bold pink with allure” and “Illuminating” a yellow that is “friendly and joyful, offering the promise of a sunny day.” Fashion magazine Marie Claire agrees that bright colors are the new trend for this fall. The integration of bright colors into the season's trends highlights creativity and optimism in a world that is coming out of its hibernation from the pandemic.
For us here at Krikawa, we emphasize creativity and the excitement of playing with color. We want our designs to emphasize playfulness and radiance, which is what these colors are all about. Did you know that not all sapphires are blue? While sapphires are often associated with a deep blue hue, sapphires can actually be found in an array of different colors, including Fuschia and bright yellow. The sapphires in the pictures below are close matches to Pantone’s ‘Fuschia Fedora” and ‘Illuminating.” Illuminating they are! Historically, sapphires have been linked with royalty and romance, and the ancient kings and queens of Greece and Rome believed that the wearer of sapphires would be protected against envy and harm.
Diamonds on the other hand, in addition to white, can be found in a stunning blue shade, such as this 0.96 carat diamond in our Simple Elegance Solitaire ring. Blue diamonds have trace amounts of boron, which causes the brilliant blue hue. Blue diamonds are not treated or enhanced to bring out the color, they are found in their blue state. Located in India, Australia, and South Africa, there are only three mines in the world that provide blue diamonds. Because they are so rare, a blue diamond is usually more expensive than white diamonds and other fancy color diamonds.
While emeralds are often connoted as the gemstone of spring, there is definitely room for them in the fall color lineup. Unlike diamonds and sapphires, emeralds all come in the same color, but the color is a beautifully exquisite and vibrant green, very much like Pantone’s fall green hue ‘Leprechaun.” Emeralds are a classic gemstone that sparkles with timelessness and elegance and can be used as a center stone or accent on a ring. Or both! As this picture of our Ultimate Leaf Bridal set shows. Emeralds offer a bright flash of color that is appropriate for any season.
These are just a few of the brightly colored gemstones that can give a ring a colorful and unique twist. We would love to help you design a ring, you can make an appointment with one of our design consultants through our website or give us a call. We look forward to helping you create your perfect ring!
